New Library Software

Maldives College of Higher Education is in the process of implementing a new Library Software “Liberty 3”. This software is developed by Softlink of Australia and is widely used in many universities.

The new Library software Liberty 3 allows easier management and cataloguing of the library. It also allows users and viewers anywhere to browse all the libraries of the campuses easily online.

Consultants from the Softlink visited Maldives from the 11th -18th January. During their visit they have installed the software and made it available online. During their visit they also conducted an intensive training program for all the library staff.

MCHE is planning to use the system at the beginning of the academic year of 2007. Library staffs are currently engaged in the cataloguing process. All books and library materials will be bar coded and security enhanced during process. 20 participants under went the training.
