At the invitation of Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA), the President of MLA, Aishath Shabana (Shaba), is attending the SLLA International Conference held to mark SLLA’s 50th Anniversary. The Conference is scheduled to be held in Colombo from 7th to 8th October 2010.
The theme of the the Conference is ‘Libraries: Access to Information and Empowering People’. In this regard, Shaba will be presenting a paper on ‘Access to information: experience in Maldives’. More information about the conference is available from SLLA websitte <www.slla.org.lk>. Shaba is also scheduled to chair the session on “Indigenous Knowledge” on October 8, 2010.


This gathering is also paving way to a meeting of the Regional Federation for South Asia Library Associations (REFSALA) after a few years of inactivity. Shaba will be participating in the REFSALA Council meeting on behalf of the MLA.
