The MLA organized a lecture on Cataloging and the importance of MARC standards. The sessions was mainly targeted for the library personnel from the participating libraries of the MLA Koha Project. These two concepts are relatively new to the library personnel who do not have professional training in LIS. As such, MLA struggles with the level of support and speed of work needed in completing the backlog cataloging at the project libraries.

The session was delivered by Ms Padma Bandaranayake, the Library Director at the American Center Library, Colombo, during a formal visit to the American Centre in Male’. The session was held on 29 August 2012 at the American Centre from 13:00 to 15:00hrs.
