We have scheduled the first MLA general meeting for this year, to be held on

16 February 2013 (Saturday), from 4-6pm

at the American Centre @ the National Library of Maldives (Museum Building Annex,
Medhuziyaaraiy Magu).

We would like to invite everyone interested in moving the library profession forward, and wanting to see an improvement in our libraries, to come and join the meeting. We will be brainstorming on activities we can carryout for the betterment of the library staff as well as the development of libraries.

Libraries play an important role in educating our citizens – both at Schools/Colleges/Universities as well as through Public Libraries. Modern day libraries need educated individuals with information technology background coupled with information systems and information services knowledge (all encompassed in an LIS qualification) and should have an aptitude to keep pace with the changing information and communications technologies. In short, library development lies in the hands of intelligent people. The Maldives lags behind in this important sector of development. So, to make a difference to the society join hands with MLA.

You do not necessarily have to be a member of the Association to join this meeting.
