MLA participated in the event organized by the Academy for Dhivehi Language to mark the international mother language day.

The event held at Sultan Park was very well received with a large number of parents and children visiting the Park between 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The MLA stall was very popular with its big book sale Shaihaage vaahaka, selling over 100 books. The comments from appreciative parents highlighted the acute need for more children’s storybooks to be published in Dhivehi language at an affordable price. The requests were also there for the books to be in a size that will be easy to handle and store. The big book format was favored by some parents, especially for group reading.
