Call for Nominations

We are pleased to invite nominations for participation in the Let’s Read Orientation and Networking Workshop

This workshop is designed to provide an insightful orientation into the Let’s Read Initiative and its expansion through networking in public and school libraries in the Maldives.

Event Details:

  • Date & Time: 21 September 2024 (Saturday) | Half-day session
    (Return to Male’ on the same day)
  • Venue: K. Dhiffushi (Fikree Preschool)
  • Duration: 12:30 to 16:30 hrs (Male’ to Dhiffushi Ferry 11:30 , Return to Male 17:45)
  • Capacity: 15 seats for participants from other islands
  • Target Participants:
    • Public library librarians
    • Librarians from private and government schools
    • Teacher librarians or teachers responsible for reading programs.

Note. At least 50% of the seats will be prioritised for participants from islands other than Male’. If there are more applicants, seats will be allocated to represent one participant from each participating organisation.

Workshop Objectives:

Participants will:

  • Gain an understanding of the Let’s Read program and its future potential for libraries.
  • Be introduced to the Let’s Read Platform: Navigating, Translating, and Volunteering Opportunities
  • Learn about adapting Dhivehi translations to local cultural sensitivities, emphasising ensuring the use of proper Dhivehi language.
  • Discover strategies for engaging young readers effectively.
  • Explore opportunities for networking and collaborations 

Remuneration:

  • Return transport Male’ to Dhiffushi on the day of the event. 11:45am / 17:45pm
  • Ferry ticket reimbursement for participants travelling from Malé Atoll.
  • Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Please submit nominations by 15 September through via this Google Form.
Due to limited seating, early registration is recommended.
Nomination will be closed on 18 September 2024
