Next yearβs Professional Development Workshop for Library & Information Services (PDW-LIS) will take place in Perth, Australia, in partnership with Curtin University.
β¨ What to Expect:
π Curated visits to Curtin University and other academic libraries in Western Australia, public libraries (the networked branches of WA public libraries), school libraries, and research libraries
π€ Sessions on AI and information-seeking, digital literacy, records management, oral history, and indigenous knowledge
ποΈ Engagements with archivists, museum professionals, and digital heritage projects
π Cultural immersion activities promoting diversity, inclusion, and global awareness in library services
π― Who Can Apply?
Category 1: Students of Library & Information Management at MNU (priority for Bachelor of Arts [Library and Information Management – BA-LIM] students.
Category 2: Maldivian library and information professionals β including educators, archivists, records managers, and public sector staff. Priority will be given to ensure institutional diversity.

π About PDW-LIS:
This international workshop series was launched in 2023 with the first BA-LIM cohort at the Maldives National University. It has since taken participants to Singapore (2023), Indonesia (2024), and Malaysia (2025) is happening in the next few weeks.
π‘PDW-LIS aims to bridge professional gaps in the Maldives by offering hands-on learning and international exposure, empowering local professionals to meet global standards in library and information services.
