The MLA training on Koha ILS software commenced today at the National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT).

The training is being delivered as part of the MLA Koha Pilot Project 2011, to provide the staff of the participating libraries the necessary skills to set up and maintain a database of their library collection in Koha ILS. The training is conducted from 9:00am to 4:00pm everyday during 11 to 13 September 2011. In addition to the target libraries from the Project, other interested institutions have been given the chance to participate in this training as much as possible. We are overwhelmed by the interest shown by the number of schools wishing to participate in this training.

The current training program accommodates 25 participants, and represents 17 libraries from 11 different islands of the Maldives including the capital Male’. It is also noteworthy that computer technicians also joined us at this training. For this project to succeed we need participation and cooperation of the IT people.
