Professional / Student Membership

This category is for working professionals and students currently studying or interested in library field.

General Membership

This category has been created for those who want to try out the membership for free. We want to encourage everyone interested in reading, sharing, acquiring, and archiving knowledge/information to become a member of this association.

Institutional Membership

This category is for organisations/institutions. Please use the MLA registration form 2 to become a member. Each institution can register a maximum of 3 representatives for one membership.

Please note that the membership fees have been revised at the MLA general meeting held on Saturday, 25 January 2014. The new fees will be in effect from this date.
The new membership fees are:

Professional Membership                                240.00

Student Membership                                      120.00

General Membership                                       FREE

Institutional Membership                                 500.00

  1. Libaries in maldives stink the books that they provide are like ripped up or boken why not the libaries have rules not to rip books or we should just provide neat nice books. thisis not very good maldivians are very careless..

    1. Libraries, like any other institution, requires educated people to look after it. For the record, library personnel with a Diploma or above qualification in Library and Information Studies discipline in the Maldives is less than 10. There are only three people with a University Degree. This Association, in partnership with the National Library of Maldives and the Maldives National University Library, is trying to educate library professionals, thereby educating the user community to cherish the libraries, to cherish knowledge & information. The country’s development is reliant on the information sector.
      We need the users of the libraries to be mature enough to understand that the libraries in the Maldives operate on a very limited budget. We rely on the goodwill of the people and our users to keep the books in shape.
